The racing stables at Middleham house nearly 500 horses, which can be seen daily walking through town on their way to the moorland training gallops above the town.

On Good Friday each year, for that one day only, all the Middleham racing yards open their doors to visitors, and a free bus service is provided to transport visitors to the outlying stables.
